Substation Engineer II/III - Physical Design (Remote/Full Time)

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Substation Engineer with expertise in physical design to join our Substation transmission and distribution (T&D) engineering team. This role offers the flexibility of working from home. As a Substation Engineer, you will play a crucial role in our engineering projects, contributing to the design, managing drafting, and performing of substation physical design for both brown field and green field substations. Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop comprehensive physical design packages for high-voltage substations, including both greenfield and brownfield projects.
  • Detailed design and coordination of substation physical components, such as site layout and configuration, foundation and structural design, bus and equipment arrangements, conduit and cable tray routing, equipment clearances, station grounding, fencing and security elements, section/elevation views, and control enclosure layouts.
  • Ensure all designs comply with applicable utility standards, codes (IEEE, NEC, NESC), and client specifications, with attention to constructability and safety.
  • Interface with electric utility clients to interpret project requirements, address design comments, and ensure alignment with project requirements.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including protection and control, and civil/structural, to deliver integrated and efficient substation designs.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate documentation of design deliverables, revisions, QA/QC checklists, and project changes throughout the design lifecycle.
